Definition
The FCA Register records authorised firms, appointed representatives and permissions. A consumer should verify the legal firm, trading name, contact details and mortgage permissions before taking regulated advice. MortgageConnector is an introducer and is not authorised to provide mortgage advice.
Practical example
The name used by an adviser can differ from the authorised principal firm shown on documents, so check the relationship on the Register.
Why it matters
Authorisation status affects who is responsible for advice and which complaint protections may apply.
