How to read the figures

These are official area averages, so they help you understand the local market rather than value one home or predict the next sale. Where the file has no first-time buyer figure, including the UK total, that row is left out. Northern Ireland and Belfast are quarterly, so a repeated month in the file is not a new monthly reading.

Deposit rows are 5, 10, 15 and 20 percent of the average. The 90% payment uses the example rate on this site. It shows the shape of the cost, not that a 90% deal is on offer. Property tax depends on the price, the buyer and the country. The tax link opens the nearest worked example we already publish for that nation.
